home made crayons

so the natives decided to make something for the youngest

i suggested home made crayons

they jumped at the idea! hehe

"how do we do it?...will they still color?"

always with the questions my natives..

i told them it was easy and yes they would still color!

i set them down in front of the giant plastic tub that holds our crayons

i said now just start peeling! haha

we used all the broken bits and old crayons

peeled them of their wrappers and filled the molds with them

i turned the oven to about 320*

and we put them in on a baking sheet and watched them melt

took about 10-15 min.

i stirred them up a bit with toothpick

to make sure they were melted through

and to even the colors out a bit

we let them dry and the next morning

popped them out!

yay gorgeous lovely tree shaped crayons!

last night the tooth fairy visited

in our shes approximately 5' tall and wears glasses

(or goggles because the 5 year old swears she saw her wearing goggles)

and has wings

she sneaks into the room late at night

and leans in REALLY close

to make sure your sleeping

as an extra precaution

she makes weird faces at you

......

just to make sure you dont smile or giggle

and are truly asleep

then she quietly reaches under your pillow

rummages around a bit

till she finds your tooth

(if she cant she then crawls under bed, removes blankets etc.

until the tooth is found)

she grabs it up quickly and then pulls out some coins

and shoves them under your pillow

then ever so quietly

she tip toes out of your room

shes clutzy though

so she bumps into your bed

trips over your dolls

and possibly runs into the door

before leaving

.....

and another tooth was lost today.

which means she shall be back again tonight!

ps. im going to have to make one of those

tooth pillow thingies.

might make it a bit easier in the dark.

So this past week was

valentines day

and while im not a fan of "st. hood"

and such

i read up on my valentines history

st. valentine was a priest who secretly married

people at a time when the reigning ruler

had banned marriage and engagements due to the fact

that it was discouraging people from fighting

in his war

valentine was later found and killed for his crime

on Feb. 14th

thus people remembered him

and love on that day

The flowers were given to me by my eldest daughter

she made them completely on her own

so this past week was my birthday!!

and some my own age making jokes about "cougar"

which i find completely disturbing! haha

i think ive gained a few more wrinkles this year

but ive gained love this year

and this year i am greatful for etsy

my children and family

so Christmas this year was nice..

my oldest two came in about 7 am

to inform me that our presents had arrived

and stockings filled!

i stumbled out of bed and we all came out to the living room

giggles of excitement followed

as they eyed all the goods once again

we opened stockings

baby was not so amused with unwrapping gifts

even the shiny bows didnt seem to amuse her

instead she sat on her presents and watched us

haha

Then it was time for the gifts under the tree!

there wasnt tons

but i was very happy this year that my oldest two

were able to pick out gifts themselves for everyone in the family

i want them to see the enjoyment of giving to others

and they did!!

they were so excited to have us open the handmade bits

and things they picked out from the store!

we oohed and ahhhhed at all the goodness :)

all waiting to play with our children

My oldest brother is a bit too old to play

so he hangs out with us!!

good times

we shoot some pool

play some xbox

joke around and snack

then my uncle and cousin show up right before dinner!

this year instead of regular dining table

my dad had bought 3 tables and set up the dining room

to look like a lovely restaurant

my sisters had set up a menu

and we sat down to these lovely tables

while they took our order

soup , salad, bread

then a main coarse of lasagna

and or mostaccioli

they also were our servers!!

yay for good service ;)

after we finished there was a bunch of

desert to choose from

of coarse we wanted to try a few ;)

hehe

after dinner we opened gifts

and got to talk a bit to my cousin and his new girlfriend

she was back from spain

and had some lovely stories to tell

it was sweet to watch them so in love

all huggy and kissy

We had lots of fun

then packed the kids up and headed for home!

its been snowing all day...

the light coming in from outside is beautiful and im craving hot chocolate.

I love days like this....
days you want to spend getting snowed in and cuddling with the one you love.

This time of year makes me want to tell everyone i love

just how much

To me its the warmest time of year

makes my insides even more mush than normal

Im excited for Christmas day to come too

i will get to enjoy the children opening up their gifts

i will make a yummy meal

consisting of turkey and mashed potatoes and whatnot

mmmmmmmmmm

makes me hungry just thinking about it

we will have my mother over.

my sister will come with her boyfriend

we will play games

and laugh

and eat way too much

went to the aquarium this past week

it was fun

we saw all sorts of fishes and aquatic animals

we watched a lady feed otters

and then played i spy in the aquariums to see if we could find whatever it was we knew was hiding in the tank

the jelly fish were quite neat ;)

i kept trying to get good shots of them

but they are harder than you might think

life inside of any box aint easy
when all your love is in another box completely

and everything inside and your body
is yearning
to get out

and then the other box begins
to move around beyond the things
that you can reach or do or see
and all your hopes are lingering

you run and try to grasp on to
the things that you know might work for you
but all it does is move away
and your afraid that you must stay

inside your little box

when your sure of what you want
and then
your told it isnt easy when
you know the hard that lies before you
you dont care you want to ignore it

and all the folks that you cant tell
just sit right by
and wonder well
whats wrong with you
inside your box
the outside looks so nice and soft

and you tumble round
in all the space
the lonely empty tiny place
your love looks back and is disgraced
you sigh
and try and to lift your face

and force a smile
as you watch

you couldnt reach

to grab you

these pirates set sail for Australia
this past week
i was given no specifics other than
she wanted pirates..
so i made these guys
and i loved making them!!

this past weekend
i traveled to my grandmothers house
she lost grandpa a little while back
we all try and visit when we can
keep her company
help her with things she needs help with etc.

the night i first arrived it was jut me mom and granny..
and despite the fact that she has lost most of her sight
she managed to make us an amazing dinner!!

she made delicious taco salad..

and for desert some pudding that she made look oh so purdy!!
it tasted even better too!! mmmm

on saturday
i washed windows
flipped a mattress, drove her to some stores
dropped some things off to the shelter for her
and then played some games
it was all females this weekend
me my mother, sister, aunt and grandmother
we had tons of fun.

i also got to make a wish..
haha wahoo for winning
at wishbones :)

by the ride home sunday i was exhausted!
but 3 hours later i was home.. ahhhh
good to be home :)
